Description
Stearic acid is a saturated long-chain fatty acid with a straight-chain structure consisting of 18 carbon atoms. Its chemical formula is C17H35COOH (C18H36O2). It is widely present in nature, especially in animal fats and certain vegetable oils. Stearic acid appears as a white solid at room temperature, is colorless and odorless, and has low water solubility and high solubility in organic solvents. In industry, stearic acid can be obtained through the hydrolysis of animal and plant fats and is widely used in the food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, plastic and rubber industries, as well as in the production of candles. It is not only an important chemical raw material but also a functional additive for various products.
