Description
White and easily hygroscopic fine powder, with a good smell, flammable. It
has a density of 1.095 g/cm³ and a melting point of 120℃ . It is insoluble in water
but soluble in hot ethanol,ether, and acids. It is heated and dissolved in an organic
solvent and then cooled to become a gelatinous substance. When exposed to
strong acids, it decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding salts.
